Weekly summary - 272/273/274th week -- Merry Xmas and Happy New Year

Happy New Year and Merry Xmas to all the readers.
I have just have a new hair cut but the style has been stick with the one that I kept almost I started this blog. Why? I just think it is hard to cover my bald spot is hard with other spiky hair style.
However, I think most of us that still in the early stage may want to try up mosre hair sty;e while we still can. Wow, sound pessimistic?? But it is the truth. Let us look at 10 hair style for thinning hair men that can try on.
Here we go.

No. 10 Shag

Type of hair loss it's good for: Early receding hairline.

At the very early stages of hair thinning, when you see no reason to commit to a short cut, consider a style that involves shaggy layers. You'll want to ask your barber for a cut that’s long in front, that falls over your forehead and has a medium length all over. At home, use your fingers to tousle your layers with a bit of gel or lightweight styling cream. By drawing attention to your cool, just-rolled-out-of-bed look, longer hair combined with slightly disheveled layers is a smart trick to mask the early stages of balding.

No. 9 Short and tapered all over

Type of hair loss it's good for: Thinning on top.

If you've noticed that your forehead has started to become more prominent but that you still have plenty of hair, ask your barber for a cut that's short all over and slightly tapered in back and on the sides. Next, invest in some hair paste and apply a minute amount to towel-dried hair, making sure to distribute the product evenly throughout. Finally, use your fingers to make only the hair on top of your head a bit messy, leaving your sides and the back looking proper. This style works to minimize hair loss because its rough texture gives hair extra volume, leading to the perception that you have more.

No. 8 Long front

Type of hair loss it's good for: Early receding hairline.

If your hair is thinning at a slow pace and you still have a reasonably full mane, grow out the hair on top of your head. Once this hair is longer than the hair on the back and sides of your head, you can brush your hair forward, using a little gel to keep everything in place. In addition to helping you hide an expanding forehead, this style is simple and won't make you seem like you're trying too hard.

No. 7 Slicked back

Type of hair loss it's good for: Bald spots near the back of the head.

When your hair is still relatively thick apart for minor receding in a spot or two, try wearing it slicked back. To do so, you'll need to grow the front of your hair long enough so that when you slick it back, it will effectively mask a bald spot. Use a little bit of product to increase volume, keep your hair in place and further conceal hair loss. Just remember that slicking your hair back results in an old-school debonair look, but slicking your hair to the side puts you firmly in comb-over territory.

No. 6 Faux faux hawk

Type of hair loss it's good for: Hair loss around the temples.

Though the faux hawk may bring images of douchery to mind, a modified, toned-down version (a faux faux hawk, if you will) is actually a clever way to divert attention from hair loss near the temples. Begin by asking your barber for a short, choppy cut that will work with your shifting natural hair line. Then, apply a dab of gel to your hair and use your fingers to haphazardly move hair toward the center of your head, making sure to keep everything nice and messy in order to make your hair loss less evident.

No. 5 Short and spiked

Type of hair loss it's good for: All-over thinning.

For hair that is thinning all over, rather than in a specific location, an ideal hairstyle is one that is short and spiked. It's easy to achieve with a little hair gel, and the increased volume means you'll appear to have a fuller head of hair. Also, because this edgy style creates space between your locks and distracts the eye, it places the focus on where your hair is, rather than where it’s not.

No. 4 Short crew cut

Type of hair loss it's good for: Receding at the temples or the crown.

When it comes time to switch to a shorter cut in order to minimize the appearance of thinning hair, go with a crew cut. Not only is it timelessly stylish and suitable for any age or face shape, but, by blending the thinner portions of your hair with thicker ones, this style creates the illusion of a fuller head of hair. This cut works best when not much is required to blend in bald spots.

No. 3 Buzz cut

Type of hair loss it's good for: Early bald spots.

The buzz cut has at least three advantages for men with thinning hair. First, less hair on your head makes hair loss less obvious. Second, this style is a classic that works in any professional or social environment. For example, with a polished suit, this cut is sharp and sophisticated. On the other hand, with a distressed denim and a hoodie, the buzz cut has an edgy, urban appeal. Finally, it's extremely low maintenance, so you can toss out most of your hair-styling products.

No. 2 Modified Caesar cut

Type of hair loss it's good for: Advanced temple hair loss.

The rule of thumb to follow for hair loss in general is that, as bald spots become more obvious, your hair should become shorter. If you've reached a stage at which you have virtually no hair in your temple region but some remains on your crown and you don't want to go hairless yet, work with what you've got. The solution is to request a cut that's clipper-short without being a buzz cut and to use the smallest amount of gel or pomade to finger brush your hair forward. The result will reduce the appearance of thinning on top of your head and will lend a distinguished air to men with salt-and-pepper locks.

No. 1 Clean shaven

Type of hair loss it's good for: Advanced hair loss.

When you've reached the point of no return, shaving off all your remaining hair is a great option. In fact, if you have an even and pleasingly shaped skull, a hair-free style could be one of the best moves you'll ever make. It takes a significant amount of confidence to go completely bald, which will translate into an air of authority in your professional life and serious sex appeal when it comes to women.

Anyway, is that work for Asian??

Weekly summary - 270/271th week -- hard water and hair loss

I suddenly read this as some of my colleagues who travel to US for a few months, face hair loss problem. It is understood that the quality of the water there is difference with Malaysia and thus can cause hair loss.
What is hard water??
Get this from hair loss help forum.
Over 85% of the population in the U.S., according to the Water Quality Association, are bathing with hard water. While hard water is fine for drinking, it can cause many problems for your hair, scalp and skin.

These problems include:

* Hair feels dry
* Hair is resistant to color or perming
* Dandruff or eczema of the scalp
* Dry, flaky skin
* Thinning hair
* Colors fading too quickly
* Perms appearing to fall out
* Discoloration or darkening of hair
* Hair lacks body and shine

HOW YOUR WATER AFFECTS YOUR HAIR

The water you use to wash your hair, scalp, and skin comes from one of two sources:

* Ground Water
* Surface Water

Ground Water

If your water comes from the ground, it is either from your own well or from the local treatment plant that derives the water from wells pumping water from the ground. The source of ground water is from rain passing through aquifers, which are layers of minerals. The acidity (pH below 7) of the rain increases the dissolving effect of minerals. These dissolved solids are found in the water when pumped above the ground and used to bathe.

Surface Water

If your water comes from the treatment plant which derives the water from a surface source, the water is coming from either a river or a lake. Surface water usually contains less minerals because the water has not filtered down through the mineral layers. However, increasing populations are polluting the water causing additional bacteria growth. As a result, the treatment plants must add more chlorine to kill bacteria and then add lime (a calcium compound) to help control the chlorine levels.

Water hardness is determined by the level of calcium that is in the water either found naturally from the ground or put into the water by the treatment plant.

While calcium is the element that determines hardness of water, there are many other elements in the water that effect the texture, volume, shine, control and health of hair.

What are the minerals that effect hair?

* Calcium
* Iron
* Copper
* Magnesium
* Silica
* Lead

What other elements effect hair?

* Chlorine -a harsh oxidizer added to the water to kill bacteria also adversely effects hair.

How do minerals and chlorine attach to the hair?

Our hair, scalp and skin have an electrical charge and that charge is negative. Minerals and oxidizers are charged positive. When a positively charged mineral comes in contact with our hair, scalp, or skin, it attaches on like a magnet.

How do hard water minerals and chlorine effect hair?

Calcium - If your source for water is a well, then more than likely you have calcium in your water. If your source for water is coming from a treatment plant, calcium may have been added to your water. Calcium is the mineral that determines hardness of water.

How calcium effects hair:

* Calcium leaves the hair feeling dry and weighted down. It can even cause a perm to appear relaxed.
* Calcium builds up on the scalp causing flaking of the scalp, giving the appearance of dandruff.
* Calcium can choke the hair at the mouth of the follicle causing the hair to break off, then coating the scalp, blocking further new hair growth.

Iron - Iron is found in ground water from domestic wells and wells used by treatment plants as the source for local water.

How iron effects hair:

* Iron leaves the hair feeling dry, brittle and weighted down.
* Iron can cause dark hair to tint darker and blonde hair to turn orange.
* Iron can block perms and color from properly processing.

Copper - Copper originates in water in three ways:

1. It comes from the ground and is pumped into the water from a well.
2. Particles of copper can come from copper piping. The corrosion caused by hard water lifts the copper particles off the pipes and deposits them into the water.
3. Copper sulfates are added to swimming pools to control the growth of algae. Copper is often added to lakes (that are a source of drinking water) in the summer to kill algae.

How copper effects hair:

* Copper discolors hair causing blonde hair to turn green and dark hair to tint darker.
* Copper can weigh hair down and cause dryness.
* Copper can inhibit the proper processing of perms, color and relaxers.

Magnesium - Usually found wherever calcium comes naturally from the ground, magnesium is abundant in the soil and is very much a part of the mineral complex associated with hard water.

How magnesium effects hair:

* Magnesium causes hair to feel dry.
* Magnesium causes hair to appear weighted down.
* Magnesium can inhibit the proper processing of perms, color and relaxers.
* Magnesium causes hair to lack shine.

Silica - Silica is a sand-like substance found in desert or volcanic areas. It is usually bound to calcium or magnesium and forms very hard, virtually insoluble deposits.

How silica effects hair:

Silica causes many of the same effects on the hair as calcium.

* Silica causes hair to feel dry.
* Silica weighes hair down.
* Silica can cause dandruff-like symptoms of flaking.
* Build up of silica can choke the hair follicle causing hair to fall out.

Lead - Lead acetate is used in certain home remedy gray hair cover-ups.

How lead effects hair:

* Lead can cause the hair to feel dry.
* Lead can prevent the proper processing of perms, color, and relaxers.

Chlorine - unlike the other elements listed above, chlorine is not a mineral but an oxidizer. Chlorine is put into drinking water and swimming pools to kill bacteria. In addition to the following effects chlorine has on hair, due to it's oxidizing effects, chlorine also oxidizes minerals onto the hair causing worse effects of those minerals.

How chlorine effects hair:

* Active chlorine in the hair can cause hair to feel gummy when wet and straw-like when dry.
* Chlorine can damage the cuticle and proteins of the hair.
* As an oxidizer, chlorine can cause the air and sun to oxidize hair and worsen the conditions listed above.
* Chlorine can cause hair to feel dry.
* Chlorine can cause hair to become brittle.
* Chlorine can cause hair to lack shine.

What is the solution ??I am not convince with the solution I found on internet.

I can't really know my libido is so low due to the pressure of lives or it is from the Propecia now. I really feel even a hot chic with sexy clad will not excite me at all. This is really sad.
I have no other way to know if my libido will ever recover if my lives is going to continue like this. It has been more than a year I have been reduce my posts by 50%, from weekly to revery fortnight and now even I started to delay my post.
Hope I will get back to normal life sooner. Hope my hair will become better.

Weekly summary - 263/264th week -- Pressure continue

What to said, I have to sleep almost at one or two am instead of before 12 (and normally I sleep before 11.30pm). We all knows that a good sleep will help our hair especially us, who has suffered hair falls. Yes, It will not cure your baldness but sleeping late will made you lose more hair. So, we have no choice.
Now, I come back homr at 10 or 11pm. I need to take shower and dinner and normally when it done it has to be 12 or 1 am. For your information, I still wake up at 6am the next day..nope, the same day. This is a life of everything also urgent and fire fighting style in my current company. Damn it. The pressure is really high and even the hair stylist who never compliant of my hair also said that my hair if not that much. I knew what he said is true and he just do not want to make me feel bad.I do notice my frontal hair is not that much after I work in this company. I just feel the 'pressure' and can not relax.
I do that many of the readers prefer to use minoxidil as a start. I am not sure if this is a good idea now since the Kirkland minoxidil is now made in Israel instead of Canada. I do feel the quality is not as good as before. None the less, I still use Rogaine in the morning.
Hopefully everything will turn positive soon.

Weekly summary - 261/262th week -- Pressure

My long time follower of this blog will know, since I have changed my job last year and my posting has reduced by half ever since. From a weekly post to a biweekly. Yupe, I have been busy ever since. I think it is really suck as an low paid engineer and yet work around with all the guys at the same time.
It is much more pressure after one year and more headache. Working saturday will be a norm soon I guess looking at the workload. I really hope and jump over business field since I obtain my MBA. But life is life, you still have to work for your daily expenses even you ding the job that you hate since you are waiting for the opportunity.
Ok, finished my grudges of the current job. The impact is I really suffer more hair loss on my vertex as the pressure mounted recently. I think I need to crack y head everyday to solve the problem and working non stop for 12 hours a day. It really hurt my lifestyle and certainly bad for my hair. When I comb with the ox horn comb I bought from 淘宝(Taobao) that day, there are hair that easily falls on my vertex. Damn! I even notice I have a strand of white hair that day!!!
I really everything will be change very soon, pray for me!!!!

Nioxin shampoo and its treatment

I have heard Nioxin brand for a while but do not really do some research of it.
Until this Monday, I read that it has come to Malaysia in The Sun.
I do not know the effectiveness of hair loss treatment but I did aware it is offer in O'Inno Salon. Each treatment is about RM200.
The products of treatment is divided into 1 to 6 groups with each number is suitable for different type and the seriousness of  hair loss. The range of take home products is range from RM 85 ro RM279.
Wow, seems like the price is not cheap and I still think it could be another Yun Nam. Howver, Nioxin is a reputable US products and may be it is a bit better.

Weekly summary - 259/260th week -- Yun Nam scam again

One reader leaves his comment in my blog and he was believe purchase a Yun Nam's treatment coupon in  Groupon type of group purchase deal site. Initially he was just want to know about his hair condition but no matter what his hair condition, in the eye of those Yun Nam hair consultant, everyone who enter their door, is money opportunity. You will not know the truth. The only outcome is you will be push for a treatment course that is about RM5k depends how rich you are. If you are not afford that amount for treatment, they will lower down the treatment package. However, the most important point is you will not get your hair back as the treatment is not scientific, not proven (all the proof they shown is a lie) and just to conned your money. I believe they know many people especially me wrote about Yun Nam hair care scam for a very long time, if it is not true, they would have sue me for a long time, right?
Ok, let you guys read the teenagers who write about his experience in Yun Nam hair care. He was lucky to escape from being cheated.

Evening: Shampoo : Himalaya
              topical: Kirkland minoxidil 5% (Reason: cheaper)

For those who ask where I bought, I can tell you, buy from amazon, and just refer to the link in my blog. Yup, I know only a few will send the item to Malaysia, thus I am trying hard to find a way that you can buy from any seller there. You can save your shipment cost a lot and make it the Rogaine and Kirkland even more affordable to you guys.
Just wait my good news.Thanks

Weekly summary - 255/256th week

I have bought a wooden horn hair comb from Taobao.com (淘宝网)from China. It is good for hair and will not result electrostatic that is bad for hair. Horn comb is said good for scalp circulation when you comb your hair. Thus, it can reduce hair fall, white hair and also headache. Recently I found that I have one strand of white hair and I think is due to my high pressure new jobs that required me to work at least 12 hours daily. It is non stand stop except one hour lunch time. Sometimes, I have to work up to 15 hours. I cause me headache and I bought this horn comb with and hope to reduce my headache and it works. I just comb before I sleep for a bout 5 minutes to 10 minutes.
The horn comb costs RMB 39 and plus the shipment to Malaysia, it is about RM25. You guys need to know you need to buy from agent as we can not buy goods directly from china's websites if you do not have a China bank account. You can find a lot of agent in LowYat.net's forum.
The horn comb I bought is not the famous 谭木匠 that once has a shop in Berjaya Time square but is closed. Now, you can only buy from China.  谭木匠 horn comb is more or near RMB 100, whihc is a lot more expensive. I am unsure if mine is the real one (authentic horn comb), but this 西子荷seems like quite famous in China too.

At the same time, I am thinking a way how we can buy Rogaine and minoxidil with an much cheaper shipment fee for all of us.I know that the shipment fee is just as cosly as the item but yet one third of the price in Malaysia. Anyway, I think I can reduce the price even lower and mind you I do not earn any money from you guys if the method works. I will only earn a lowly 4% (and it is not in real money) when you click the ads in my blog and make an purchase.Wait my good news as I need sometimes to make the method really works.

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Weekly summary - 253/254th week

I always think Minoxidil is the safest way to have the hair treatment. I think the price here is always more expensive than you buy from Amazon.com.
Needless to said, those who does not read this blog, most likely they will buy it directly from the pharmacy with a hefty price at RM150 or more.
However, even that is not consider expensive if we consider you have treatment in Yun Nam Hair Care. I really hope that those victim that went to Yun Nam or 101 Hair care will do some searching in the net before they enter their door. You will be very likely being conned with those young and pretty lady. No results in the end is the things I can guarantee you and you lost your hard earn money and more important, time. Time that you can regain your hair instead of becoming worse.
Yun Nam and other hair care centers have always come out with different promotion to attract those unaware potential victim. Free first treatment with free treatment kit that make the treatment seems so cheap but in fact, every treatment will cost you at least RM200. Second, they will exaggerate the condition of your hair like your scalp is oily, the sebum clog your hair hole and they can not "breath". All of these is just not scientific proven. Moreover, those Neilson survey and accreditation from Yun Nam are just all "fake".
So, do more research before you decide. Google is just a type away, isn't it?

Weekly summary - 251/252th week -- Kirkland Minoxidil

I think some of you notice that Kirkland Minoxidil 5% is now in a new look. It is now Made In Israel. For some Muslims that are not comfortable with Made in Israel, you may be have to choose Rogaine Foam which is more expensive. I use these two alternately to control a lower hair treatment budget.
Mine you, Kirkland Minoxidil is now more expensive than previously Made in Canada. It is a bit wierd to me but I think it is the way the company Costco want to make more profit with this successful product. I am not sure about Equate Wal Mart minoxidil which is always slightly more expensive compare Kirkland previously, but it is always not easy to purchase online.
Anyway, Kirkland now is about 20% more expensive than last year. This is exclude the US dollar is strengthen while RM is weaken. I just compare dollar to dollar.

Weekly summary - 249/250th week -- Q&A and propeciahelp.com

Been a long time that my blog has not seen more than 5 comments. Last post of my hair pictures attract 9 comments and there is one reader's question I will answer.

Blogger Nooramin Roslan said...

 My advise is Propecia+ Rogaine/ Minoxidil 5% + an organic/ less chemical shampoo (Some suggest Nizoral but I never try it). You must take risk to try Propecia as you may lose libido.

Guys, you should know about Propeciahelp.com if you have reader my post before. It is up to you to believe what they said is true. Do they exaggerate the side effects of Propecia especially the lose of libido permanently that they saw in some people? I believe the side effect is much higher than MSD claim but not as high as the website claim but it is good to know. I did continue to take Propecia vene I stopped for a month or so.
Now one professor published a study pf Propecia and it is on the web. Just show you some of the important points they made.
Question to you all that take Propecia, do your penis size become smaller?

Journal of Sexual Medicine
JULY 12, 2012 - NEW STUDY PUBLISHED -- "PERSISTENT SEXUAL SIDE EFFECTS OF FINASTERIDE: COULD THEY BE PERMANENT?"
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1743-6109.2012.02846.x/abstract

Dr. Michael Irwig at George Washington University has published a new study on persistent Finasteride side effects
. This new 2012 study is a follow-up to his March 2011 study titled "Persistent Sexual Side Effects of Finasteride for Male Pattern Hair Loss".

Selected excerpts:
  • "In a group of 54 otherwise healthy former users of finasteride who developed persistent sexual side effects that lasted for at least 3 months, 96% continued to experience these effects when reassessed 9–16 months (mean 14 months) later, raising the possibility of permanent effects."
  • "There is a solid and growing body of basic science evidence that finasteride reduces the concentrations of several neuroactive steroids that play a role in neurogenesis and neuronal survival."
  • "To explain the long-term neurological effects of finasteride, it is possible that reduced concentrations of neuroactive steroids are affecting the plasticity of neuronal architecture in regions of the brain responsible for sexual function."
  • "Another recently published study found that rats treated with finasteride for 4 weeks had a 26% reduction in the weight of their corpora cavernosa as compared with a control group [27]. This finding is consistent with the reports of genital shrinkage reported by some of the human subjects in this study."
  • "The most volunteered changes related to the urogenital system in terms of semen quality and decreased ejaculate volume, reduction in penis size, penile curvature or reduced sensation, fewer spontaneous erections, decreased testicular size, testicular pain, and prostatitis. Many subjects also noted changes to their mental abilities, sleeping patterns, and/or depressive symptoms. Many subjects reported a “disconnection” between the mental and physical aspects of sexual function."
  • "The typical story of men with persistent sexual and other side effects is that they unsuccessfully seek help from various providers in multiple medical specialties. It is important for physicians to acknowledge with their patients the current limitations in medical knowledge, particularly as it relates to neuroscience. There is no known blood or imaging test to study or measure neuroactive steroids or their metabolites in different areas of the brain associated with sexual function."
  • "Further valuable research could determine who would be susceptible to finasteride through genetic studies of polymorphisms of 5a reductase and the androgen receptor. Further research with validated instruments is needed to study the nonsexual persistent side effects associated with finasteride."

Weekly summary - 247/248th week -- hair photos

This is my hair photos. I think it is almost the same with my previous hair condition. The frontal seems like the same right? I guess it is very hard to grow hair at the frontal and I think it is the best condition that I can have. I have retaken Propecia again and the hair loss have once again become normal since.

Weekly summary - 244/245/246th week

Shall I take a break from this blog since it is Euro 2012 tournament period.
I think you guys and me were busy following this football fever.
I hope this time England will perform well since not much people putting hope on them.
But I still think Germany has the best team with good formation and squad. Spain is good too but they are not as good as Germany in terms of team football and play effectively. Of course, their passing and possession football can kill any team and many only a few teams will able to survive.
Most importantly, lets keep on monitoring the Rooney's hair style. Hair transplant really help...

Weekly summary - 242/243th week -- Beijing 101 or 101 Haircare

Beijing 101 was once as notoriously known but still not as famous as Yun Nam Haircare, the mother of all healthcare or beauty scam. I think my post of Yun Nam which I wrote a few years ago, still the most visited and read post.
Beijing 101 now try to re branding through  with a new name 101 haircare。 Though I believe most of us still can recognised they are the same company, just a little different name.
Now, they are promoting in Groupon and mydeal. These type of new group buying trend allow them to promote their product and services with a low price. Indeed, they are doing this type of promotions, Free treatment for the first trial or at a price RM18.88, before they persuade you (in a manner word) to sign a RM 10k package and bring you no result.
please note that this promotion only for those age 23 and above?  Why? very likely because you are working at 23 and own a debit card if not credit card. Else, you will not afford to sign up their package, right?
