Nioxin shampoo and its treatment

I have heard Nioxin brand for a while but do not really do some research of it.
Until this Monday, I read that it has come to Malaysia in The Sun.
I do not know the effectiveness of hair loss treatment but I did aware it is offer in O'Inno Salon. Each treatment is about RM200.
The products of treatment is divided into 1 to 6 groups with each number is suitable for different type and the seriousness of  hair loss. The range of take home products is range from RM 85 ro RM279.
Wow, seems like the price is not cheap and I still think it could be another Yun Nam. Howver, Nioxin is a reputable US products and may be it is a bit better.

Weekly summary - 255/256th week

I have bought a wooden horn hair comb from Taobao.com (淘宝网)from China. It is good for hair and will not result electrostatic that is bad for hair. Horn comb is said good for scalp circulation when you comb your hair. Thus, it can reduce hair fall, white hair and also headache. Recently I found that I have one strand of white hair and I think is due to my high pressure new jobs that required me to work at least 12 hours daily. It is non stand stop except one hour lunch time. Sometimes, I have to work up to 15 hours. I cause me headache and I bought this horn comb with and hope to reduce my headache and it works. I just comb before I sleep for a bout 5 minutes to 10 minutes.
The horn comb costs RMB 39 and plus the shipment to Malaysia, it is about RM25. You guys need to know you need to buy from agent as we can not buy goods directly from china's websites if you do not have a China bank account. You can find a lot of agent in LowYat.net's forum.
The horn comb I bought is not the famous 谭木匠 that once has a shop in Berjaya Time square but is closed. Now, you can only buy from China.  谭木匠 horn comb is more or near RMB 100, whihc is a lot more expensive. I am unsure if mine is the real one (authentic horn comb), but this 西子荷seems like quite famous in China too.

At the same time, I am thinking a way how we can buy Rogaine and minoxidil with an much cheaper shipment fee for all of us.I know that the shipment fee is just as cosly as the item but yet one third of the price in Malaysia. Anyway, I think I can reduce the price even lower and mind you I do not earn any money from you guys if the method works. I will only earn a lowly 4% (and it is not in real money) when you click the ads in my blog and make an purchase.Wait my good news as I need sometimes to make the method really works.

Weekly summary - 211th week -- Surprise discount!!!!

Two items is related to surprise or shocking price.
1. Proscar is selling at RM 192.10 normally at Watson. But...but..I got a 70% off on last Saturday due to the last unit they have in the store. Lucky....The price is only RM 57.60. Unbelievable price, right? The bad news was, You are not going to buy the control medicine like last time. They will practice just like Guardian where you need to show your prescription from doctor. Thus, you are going to show your prescription for Propecia and I certainly can guarantee you will face lots of question a young man who want to buy Proscar.
2. Kindle Fire...Though I have never think of buying a iPad 2 or Samsung Galaxy Tab, but Kindle Fire which feature Android as an OS is just selling at USD 199 compare with iPAd 2 USD 499. Yupe, iPad 2 may have higher specification but so what??? I think Kindle Fire will just push down the market price and attract people like me (I only buy when the price is right type) to buy a tablet.

Weekly summary - 195th week -- Simple shampoo review

This is the worst shampoo among all the shampoos in my review.
A famous brand name of no chemical substances inside, there are no comparable to Himalaya and Bawang shampoo in terms of performance.
This shampoo has no conditioner, so your hair will not be so soft. Well, I am OK with that.
What I am disappointed is this Simple gentle care shampoo can not even clean my oily scalp and hair. So if you use minoxidil in the morning, you will have a hard time to clean my hair.
The shampoo has no smell which is better than Bawang herbal smell but inferior with Himalayan.
I will rate this shampoo as a no buy.
This 200ml per bottle shampoo cost me RM14.50.

Weekly summary - 184th week -- Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo works?

I found that the most search keywords that lead my new readers to this blog beside Yun Nam haircare (anything about Yun Nam price, complaints etc) is Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo. I have introduced this shampoo previously in one of my post. I never tried it but seem that many people are interested.
I am in fact does not believe shampoo that can promotes hair growth. I believe those who serach about Alpecin Caffeine are mostly westerner. We seldom heard of it in Malaysia and we can only buy it from Amazon. The price is not cheap but not that expensive as well.
Anyone use the product and has a positive feedback? Or you tried but failed to give you any result?

Weekly summary - 164th week -- Rogaine Foam vs Kirkland Minoxidil

For the followers of my blog, I supposed you knew I am using Proscar and Kirkland minoxidil for my hairloss treatment. It is quite effective till now and I have encourage a lot of people to take up Kirkland minoxidil if they have no courage to take Proscar/ Propecia due to the side effect.Search Amazon.com for kirkland minoxidil
I have tried Rogaine Foam for over a week now. It is bring by my friend and he gave me for a tried. He also using Rogaine foam but I actually do not notice he had any hair loss until he told me. I guess Rogaine sell in US is cheaper than Malaysia but yet online is still offered the cheapest price.
I felt the Rogaine foam dry very fast compare with Kirkland which is liquid. More important is it does not result any 'dandruff' after it dries like Kirkland. Basically it solve my problems. I do not know is Rogaine foam is more effective to be absorbing to our scalp as I need longer time to evaluate it.
Basically Rogaine foam is similar with Kirkland with the only difference is one is in foam and another in liquid. They are the same in ingredients. I read in hairloss help forum that Rogaine foam is more effective and Kirkland cause itchiness to some people. However with a price almost double for Rogaine foam, many still choose to use Kirkland.
I think it will be good to use Rogaine foam in the morning and Kirkland Minoxidil at night. It reduce the cost and yet enjoy some benefits of Rogaine foam.

Weekly summary - 152th week --Advantage or Rogaine Foam

Men's Rogaine Foam-Rogaine Hair Regrowth Treatment, 4/2.11 oz. cans (4 Month Supply)I think many of the readers here do not know the difference of Rogaine foam with normal Rogaine solution. I am not sure you notice there is two types of Rogaine in the market!!!
Rogaine foam has the following advantages over Rogaine solution and Kirkland minoxidil:
  • Rogaine foam has the advantage of not having several irritating chemicals that may make it less greasy. Unlike Rogaine solution, the foam does not have propylene glycol, an agent that commonly causes irritation and  may even cause an allergic contact dermatitis. The incidence of chronic itching was 1.1 percent versus 6.6 percent seen in a separate study using Rogaine solution.
  • With respect to Rogaine foam versus the generic solution, the foam is relatively easier to use and some professionals think that the foam is possibly more effective because of the delivery mechanism.
  • The foam produces better compliance amongst Rogaine users. A survey was done among hundreds of men which found that Men’s Rogaine Foam was overwhelmingly preferred vs Rogaine solution. Possible advantages of Rogaine foam are: ease of application, lack of dripping, quick absorption and drying, and ability to fit easily into a daily routine.
Unlike Rogaine solution, "the foam formulation does not have propylene glycol, an agent that commonly causes irritation and occasionally causes an allergic contact dermatitis," said Dr. Elise A. Olsen, professor of medicine in the divisions of dermatology and oncology at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina.
"Many patients prefer a foam versus a solution that may drip on application to the scalp. The foam is not greasy or drying," she added.
In the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Olsen and a multicenter team of researchers report results of a clinical trial in which 315 men with hair loss were randomly assigned to foam versions of 5% minoxidil, the active ingredient in Rogaine, or placebo.
After 16 weeks, hair counts in the target area were significantly greater in the 164 men applying Rogaine foam compared with the 151 men applying the placebo foam, the investigators report. With Rogaine foam, there was an average increase in hair counts of 13.4 percent over initial counts, compared with an average increase of only 3.4 percent with placebo.
Moreover, men using Rogaine foam noted an average 70.6 percent increase in hair growth versus 42.2 percent of men on placebo.
Rogaine foam was well tolerated in 143 men who continued using it for up to 52 weeks. There were no significant differences in side effects between the two groups.
The incidence of chronic itching was 1.1 percent versus 6.6 percent seen in a separate study
using Rogaine solution.
In "consumer use" studies, Olsen and colleagues note, foam Rogaine was rated significantly higher on several aesthetic attributes compared with Rogaine solution, including "ease of application, lack of dripping, quick absorption and drying, and ability to fit easily into a daily routine."
The current study was supported by Rogaine maker Pfizer Inc.

If your skin is sensitive and do not want to risk yourself with minoxidil or Rogaine solution, you may opt for Rogaine Foam.

Weekly summary - 148th week -- Bawang shampoo safe???

I think the hottest news recently must be the Bawang shampoo.
I guess the readers of this blog will know that I have been using Bawang shampoo or over one year.
The cause of the Bawang shampoo that contains excess 4-dioxane level in the product. Although the scandal was believe expose by Hong Kong press that Jackie Chan and Faye Wong as spokespersons for the Bawang brand shampoo contains a excess level of dioxane that can cause cancer.
Different people has different view. SFDA from China said it is safe to use as long as the level of dioxane is below 100ppm. In fact is is below 30ppm. Public meanwhile avoid using Bawang shampoo and the spokespersons were condemn for representing  a products that is not safe to use plainly because of money.
Personally I will continue to use as I believe all the shampoo has contain certain of chemical that may harm to our body if it is over dose.Of course, if there is a study said that it is in fact the chemical is excessive and can harm my health, I will definitely stop using it.

BEIJING - China's food and drug watchdog Friday passed shampoos made by domestic firm Bawang International as safe to use, saying the levels of a potentially carcinogenic ingredient were within standards.
A statement issued by the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) said tests showed the levels 1,4-dioxane posed no danger to users. Hong Kong-based Next Magazine had reported that samples of two herbal shampoo products from Guangzhou-based Bawang were found to contain 1,4-dioxane.
The statement said the SFDA immediately investigated and tested samples of the products.
The SFDA statement said amounts of dioxane below 100 ppm were safe according to internationally agreed standards, but it did not specify the volume of dioxane in the Bawang shampoos.
A series of shampoos are manufactured by the Bawang famous brand (霸王驰名商标), and they all claim to use Chinese herbal remedies for special effects - e.g. its signature brand, endorsed by Jackie Chan, turns hair a 'naturally' black and sleek.
The Xinhua-run Modern Express today goes with a sensational, eyeball-grabbing front page. Jackie Chan is depicted, cartoon-style, holding a bottle of Bawang shampoo that he has endorsed for many years. Faye Wong poses next to him. What's wrong with the shampoo? It contains dioxane (二恶烷), a cancer causing agent, which here is a black ghost with the characters '二恶烷' etched on its body.
The 'scandal,' which could turn into the next 'endorsement gate or lawsuit,' was exposed by Hong Kong's One Weekly (壹周刊) yesterday and a media-fueled campaign has gone under. The campaign is checking whether the brand is still sold in shops (yes); whether some of the product endorsers, such as Faye Wong, had heard the news (no, she hadn't).
Other celebrities who endorse the mega-brand include Donnie Yen (甄子丹), who's the face for its 1928 Herbal Tea. The scandal could have legal implications for the celebrities who endorse the products because of a law passed last year making them responsible for the product that they're endorsing.
For Jackie, though, it's not the best, there is already an online meme for this, and it goes,
Ad killer Jackie Chan's excellent report card: Endorse Subor (小霸王), Sudor goes out of business; endorse Aiduo VCD player (爱多VCD), the CEO goes to jail; endorse Fenhuang cola (汾湟可乐), Fenhuang cola disappears; endorse Caddy cars (开迪汽车), Caddy cars only sell 900 around the country; endorse Bawang shampoo (霸王洗发水), its exposed to contain a cancer-causing agent. Today, have you had your product endorsed by Jackie Chan?
Bawang responded to say that it wasn't harmful in small doses, and that the chemical is found in cleaning and shampoo products across the world.

Weekly summary - 108th week -- Join my hair loss group in Facebook

I have just bought Bawang shampoo and Proscar 5mg. You may notice that the size of Proscar is just as small just propecia. I think it will be very hard to split it into four. However, it may be good as I need only 1mg per day instead of 1.25mg. Some residual of the tablets may lose and make it close to 1mg. I do not want to consume more that 1mg instead. The price is RM 192 at Watson. I find it most of the pharmacist will ask you who is taking Proscar. If you going to Guardian, you must show your precription.
The Bawang Shampoo is RM 23.90 for 400ml. For you information, This is the shampoo for dandruff. It has the smell of Yun Nam shampoo that cost you RM 60 to RM 100 if you can recall. That is another call profesional shampoo that is design for hair loss. The price is RM 45.80 for 200ml plus a 80 ml conditioner. I will write a review about Bawang.
I have create a hair loss group in Facebook. I hope you guys will join. I know that many of you have problems to share your hair photos here. Now you can upload in the facebook. Weekly summary - 102th week

This week I want to share where we can get the cheapest price Propecia (Finasteride) and Minoxidil or Rogaine. My price may not be the cheapest and I hope we all can set up a sharing platform and let all the man who face the Male pattern hair loss easier to look for reasonable price Minoxidil and Propecia. I hope readers that comment here really sincerely to share and not for advertising. The price I mentioned below is for 1 month supply.

Propecia
I got mine from Watson, Guardian or Carling. Their price is RM 158 to RM 160 depends on which supplier they purchased. I actually asked the pharmacist once why the price increased from RM 158 to RM 160. She told me they get from different supplier.
There are people who use Proscar and split it into four. I need to remind you Proscar is 5mg and Propecia is 1mg. When Proscar splits into 4 pieces it is 1.25mg and you actually consume 25% more that is prescribed. You must prepare to take the risk. The price may be slightly higher and I doubt the pharmacist will ask for precription before they sell Proscar to you.

Minoxidil or Rogaine
Rogaine is the original brand that cost you RM 170 to 230 in local pharmacy. Yupe, WHat I mean is Rogaine 5 %. Minoxidil is the generic brand. There is brand call Regro and also Kirkland. I want to tell that they are people in the Lowyat.net that sell Kirkland minoxidil 5% at RM 50 to 68. I will post their link in below. I am not tehir friend nor promoting for them. I get nothing from them as I am not yet using Monoxidil. You may ask whether the originality of their goods. I can not tell you that. You may contact them. Mind you, even a generic Regro cost you RM 130 a month in local pharmacy. The price offer by the two forumer in Lowyat is quite tempting.
Wait!!!You can find a seller in Lelong.com.my call cutecute00 offer RM 140 for 3 months supply of Kirkland and RM 270 of 6 months supply. It is about RM 45 a month for Minoxidil. I suggest you search Minoxidil in Lelong to know more.
But...the chepeast is from E bay. No, it is www.ebay.com.my search minoxidil. 6 months supply of Kirkland is cost about RM 180. It is local supplier.
One thing to remind you, if you buy from minoxidil from oversea, you may have trouble to get pass the malaysia custom.

Weekly summary - 84th week

Caryn Hairpro hair treatment product is one of the most expensive in the pharmacies. In Guardian, the price is around RM 150. In Watson, you may found it slightly below RM150 with discount.

Surprising when I watch TV commercials recently, Caryn Hairpro is once again promoting strongly in the golden time slot around 8.30pm to 10.30pm on 8TV. The biggest surprise is you will now buy one get two!!

Phew! You must think it is a good deal if you using their products. What I think is this Caryn Hairpro company has an excess profit margin previously that allow them to have the current buy one free two promotion. This is really unfair to the consumer but as consumer we are powerless unless you are prepared to boycott their product.

The same thing applies to Propecia that has been over 10 years in the market. Merck is charging us highly for this medicine. The price is about RM 160 (USD 45) in the pharmacies. Some pharmacies charge until RM 198 (USD 57). Of course, Merck has spent a huge sum in the research of Propecia, but a lot of us do experience what is claimed by Merck is not as good as it is. The people who takes Propecia and suffer from side effects is believe much higher than 2% that is claimed by Merck. The people who actually enjoy hair regrow is very rare form the reasders response in my blog and also in hair loss help forum. So are we going to get the generic Propecia soon? Just like Panadol and Paracetamol? I don’t know. I do hope we have generic of Propecia that we can buy from Pharmacies. With the cheaper price, but same result.

If Merck really want to help the baldy like us, they should research a new medicine that really help and less side effects. Else, the best way to save our money is purchase generic Propecia online, if you dare to take the risk or Proscar (cut it by four).

At last, everything is normal and unchanged last week.

Biotherm Homme Regenetic

It is just a sample I get from Biotherm. I haven't try it out. Show you guys the photos first. It cost RM199 for 150ml by the way. I will write a review after I try it out.

Weekly summary - 61st week

While I normally report my hair loss condition weekly here, and also sometimes the side effect of Propecia that haunt me, I would like to share some of the haircare products.
On Sunday I saw in newspaper of this product, and organic haircare product call Pegaga Scalp Cleansing treatment. It is one of the organic haircare and skincare products by Paul Penders. What surprise me, and may be you is this Pegaga Sclap Cleansing Treatment is the product the research center set up by Paul Penders in Langkawi Island.
Pegaga Scalp Cleansing Treatment

Beautiful hair starts with a healthy scalp! Pegaga Scalp Cleansing Treatment naturally treats irritated and flaking scalps. Pegaga (traditionally known as “Miracle Hero of the Rainforest”) and tea-tree oil both possess remarkable antiseptic and antibacterial qualities to deep-cleanse and revitalize the scalp. Helps control itching and eliminates flaking.

Ingredients

Levens ESSENTIE Gold™,(aqua, angelica, arnica, calendula, chamomile, elderflower, ginger, ginseng root, honeysuckle, hops, horsetail, juniper, lavender, lemon balm, nettle, pegaga, peppermint, rosemary, sage, st.john’s wort, turmeric, witch hazel, yarrow) aloe vera extract, natural emulsifiers from olive oil, kukui-nut oil, pegaga extract, glycerin, jojoba oil, soybean oil, vitamin C, tea tree essential oil, sorbic acid, grapefruit extract, tocopherol (1700iu vitamin E), electro-colloidal gold, electro-colloidal silver( minerals that actively and naturally sustain healthy skin).

The price may be a little bit high, at USD 19.75 for 5fl.oz or 130ml. You can buy in online and I doubt whether we can actually buy the Paul Penders product in local store. This product is famous in US, but not so familiar to Malaysian. It may help a bit for MPB victim like us, but I don't expect much. You can try and tell me your experience if you really go for a trial.

Hair loss and libido are normal for the past few weeks. But again, I don't see much progress in term of hair regrowth. This is what worried me.

Audace Hair Reactive and Hair Fall Control Shampoo Review

Audace Hair Reactive and Hair Fall control shampoo (I will just call it Audace) cost about RM21.90 (USD 6.30) in local pharmacies. Most pharmacies such as Guradian, Watson and Caring sell Audace product. This shampoo is different from the review of another Audace PH shampoo for oily scalp. This shampoo is target for people who has hair loss problem.

The Audace shampoo is 200ml and is 50ml less than the Audace PH shampoo and cost roughly RM5 (USD 1.40) more. However, this shampoo is relative high in viscosity and may seem it can last long for at least 3 months above even you wash your hair daily with this product.

Personally I have an oily scalp and this is the reason I use Audace pH shampoo last time. Although it is quite good to clear my scalp sebum, my scalp will be a bit oily in the afternoon. It could be the shampoo is too strong for my scalp which is more sensitive.

Audace shampoo in the other hand is mild and is more suitable for those who has hair loss problem. The shampoo also clean the sebum of my scalp effectively but in the afternoon my scalp is not as oily as before. I believe the Audace pH shampoo may be too strong to my scalp and my scalp become too dry after using it induced more sebum eventually. But Audace pH shampoo might be good for certain user if their scalp is really oily.

Besides, my hair look fuller and thicker than before. Well, I must stress it just look fuller and thicker but in actual, my hair is not more than before. This shampoo in fact is suggested to use together with hair tonic. Since I do not believe male pattern hair loss can be treated by shampoo and tonic alone without Propecia, my expectation for this shampoo is just to do a scalp cleansing and not let my scalp oily in the late afternoon. This shampoo meets my expectation at least until now. Reduce hair loss through this product will be a bonus to me.

I do observe some reduction of hair loss. Not much, just the hair that I lose while rinsing my hair is less than before. However, the effect may be diminished after several months later.

There may be some people that do not like its smell. There are many of shampoos that cost a lot and claim can do a wonder job, to regain your hair. Don’t believe this kind of scam. The shampoo is just at best reduce your hair loss. To regrowth your hair, there is no choice but follow the prescription of Propecia and Finasteride (minoxidil).

This shampoo, worth a try. It did not burn a hole of your pocket even it failed.

Haircuts advice for balding man

This is what I find when I Google in the net. It might work for you as well. If you have a good head shape, you still can shave your head and look sexy. Sorry, it not work for me though.

Men's Haircuts for a Receding Hairline

Step1
Accept that going bald is a hereditary condition you will most likely have to live with for the rest of your life. Though there are some treatments on the market, such as hair transplants or prescription medications, most men have to accept the hair they have and learn to adjust their hairstyle accordingly.
Step2
Grow the front bang section of your hair slightly longer in order to cover up the hair loss, such as actor Charlie Sheen does, for an early stage receding hairline. To achieve this let your stylist know that you want more hair left in the front to cover up the receding portion. Your stylist will be sure to leave the hair at the temples longer in order to compensate for the hair loss.
Step3
Consider longer hair. Wearing your hair at medium length all over, such as Owen Wilson’s shag hairstyle, is also a great option for masking a receding hairline. The longer bangs are worn over the forehead, and the sides and back blend with similar lengths.
Step4
Consider short. If longer hair isn’t your style, opt for a shorter men's haircut. Having hair shorter in the front and on top will allow you to blend the thinner hair with the rest. George Clooney or Hugh Laurie both have slight recession at the temples so not much is required to blend the balding spots. Your best bet for receding temples is to keep the hair short so there’s not such a contrast between your hair and the balding temples.
Step5
Consider a change in hairstyle as the hair begins to recede more. If your hair is still relatively thick everywhere besides the temples you can opt for a haircut similar to Nicholas Cage. Wearing your hair in a medium-short fashion and back off your forehead is great for those who aren’t as self conscious about their receding hair and just want a great look. Sometimes a great haircut is all that is necessary and the receding temples are less noticed.
Step6
Consider the buzz. Another option for those who can’t be bothered to fight the battle of the bald is to go super short and shave the hair in a “buzz cut” fashion. Think Bruce Willis or Lance Armstrong for great examples of men going super short and still looking sexy. There is a time when covering up your balding head just becomes a practice in futility. Instead of having a bad hairstyle in an attempt to cover up your hairline just go with it and set yourself free. A buzz cut is super low maintenance and looks great on the right shaped head.
Step7
Opt for a short cut with the top being left only slightly longer if you can’t bear to bare it all. Use some gel to spike the front or top like Kiefer Sutherland. This hairstyle takes the focus away from where the hair isn’t and places it on where the hair is. If you style the hair you have well, the thinner areas fade into the background.

Men's Haircut for a Thinning Crown Area

Step1
Think short. If your hair is also thinning from the crown of your head you may have to do double camouflage duty. For a bald spot that begins at the crown of your head your best bet is to keep your hair short. Shorter hair always appears thicker, so keeping your hair short on top will help hide the thinning spot.
Step2
Avoid the "comb-over." As the bald spot grows many men are tempted to resort to the comb over. No matter what you think, a comb over—-growing your hair long on top, parting it to the side and combing it over the balding area—-fools no one and never looks good.
Step3
Think shorter. Once there isn’t enough hair to cover up the bald spot on top, or the entire top of the head loses its hair, the best look is real short. Again, take a cue from Bruce Willis and take it all off. Shaving the hair super short greatly lessens the obvious contrast between where there is and isn’t hair and actually makes the large bald spots much less noticeable.

Why Rogaine or Minoxidil is so expensive in Malaysia?

I have no answer actually why it is so expensive in local pharmacy.
One month supply of Rogaine will cost RM 170++ to RM 190++ (USD 53 to 58) for one month supply.
For generic minoxidil, it cost RM 130 above (USD 40) for a one month supply.
Surprisingly. the price that you can get online is very much different.
Just click my banner above you can know how cheap you can buy minoxidil online. As we all know, US dollar is depreciate recently but yet our local pharmacy never try to reduce the price. To be logic, it should at least 10% since USD depreciate more than that.
Let see the price offer by OnlyHairLoss.com.
First we compare two generic brand of minoxidil.

Follicare hair loss treatment minoxidil. It only cost you USD 19.50 for 2 months supply and 28.95 for 4 months supply.

Another brand of Minoxidil for men and women cost cost USD 6.99 if you purchase a 12 months supply. It is also 80% cheaper what you can get in malaysia pharmacy where generic minoxil also cost you Rm 130 a month.

Unfortunately Branded Rogiane that only supply in USA also cost a lot cheaper if you purchase online. 3 month supply Rogaine which is FDA approved to stop hair loss and regrow hair from OnlyHairLoss.com as low as USD 49.99 which is only one third of the price in Malaysia.

Even you include a shipment fee around USD 16, it is still a very good bargain.

But I have made some research of some of it before I have cheated by Yun Nam Haircare. You can read about Yun Nam haircare by clicking Yun Nam in my blog’s label.

Several products that claimed they are effectively and work like magic to stop hair loss. Among them is Caryn Hairpro, Audace hair regrowth products and the latest is Ginvera Grorich Hair Follicles Revitalizer & Tonic Kit.

All these products are quite similar one each other.

Caryn Hairpro cost you RM 150++ above (correct me as I don’t update the latest price). The pack consist a shampoo, a revitaliser and a bottle of tonic that can last about 2 months. There are another pack that only have revitaliser and tonic. You can also buy each of the item separately. Last time they were advertised in TVcommercial aggressively but it actually in the market quite a long time. However, it doesn’t mean it is effective. I have a friend who using Hair pro for over 6 months and he claims his hair has never improve or what Caryn Hairpro said, hair regowth. He suffered male pattern baldness like me. So no point suing this type of natural tonic or revitaliser which you don’t even know what is the ingredients inside.

Audace product is from Germany. I am using their shampoo but it is for oily scalp and not for hair loss or their tonic. I am quite satisfied with the oily hair shampoo. But if you think Audace hair loss product is effective for MPB. I am not so convincing. However, their products are much morte economical. Normally is RM 30 or below RM 40.

Ginvera Grorich is now having promotion with RM 158 you can have a revilatiser (100ml) and a hair tonic (100 ml) plus a free green tea shampoo (400 ml). Since it is new, I don’t know its effectiveness. To be honest, I do not think it will be better than the two products above. I think all these products is just suitable as supplement after you take Propecia or finateride if you suffer MPB. These products in their best, can only improve the scalp of hair loss that due to dandruff, sensitive scalp or some minor scalp problem. These products are definitely not for MPB that cause by hormone.

The best combination until today to fight (no cure) male pattern baldness is perhaps Propecia or finateride + Rogaine or Minoxidil. If you gonna to choose one of them, choose Propecia as it is the medicine that inhibit DHt in your body. Rogaine and Minoxidil can help to grow more hair but with Rogaine alone will not work much. However, combination of both (assume) you are using branded original will cost you at least RM 300 (USD 100) per month. If you used Generic, combination of both will be around RM 140++ (or USD 45++).

The choice is yours, but I strongly against those product that seem like magic to turn a almost bald man to full of hair in one year or less. If a strand of hair can only grow 1 cm per month, that must be instant effect of these products. I only suggest to use these product like tonic or revitaliser if you have extra money to spend and please do not expect much result. You will be disappointed if you did so. If you have applied minoxidil, you are advised not to use any of the tonic by Hairpro, Ginvera Grorich or Audace.

Keep your valuable money and pick a cheap Shampoo that suitable to your scalp. Don’t be manipulated by the people who take advantage to bald man like us. They give us hope, then they spoil our hope. They just want earn our money and give us empty promise.

So beware. For bald man, we must united. That’s why this blog is call bald man united.

Propecia and Rogaine (minoxidil), which one better

Propecia vs Rogaine , Propecia or Rogaine is many people's question if he really need to choose either one. I found some article that said, perhaps you should choose Propecia over Rogaine.
http://www.regrowhair.com/non-surgical-hair-loss-treatments/propecia-verses-rogaine/

Propecia (finasteride) is a pill that is taken orally in the dosage of 1mg of finasteride. It works to inhibit Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) - the hormone responsible for genetic hair loss.

Rogaine (minoxodil) is a topical formula applied to the balding area in the recommended dosage 1ml applied twice daily. Rogaine works by stimulating the hair follicle which may increase the hair shaft diameter and elongate the anagen (growing) phase - thus regrowing hair. Rogaine however, does nothing to stop genetic hair loss as it does nothing to inhibit DHT.

Taking both Propecia and Rogaine together are said to have a synergistic effect, thus being the best fighting force against hair loss when taken together. However, if one were going to choose one over the other - because Propecia inhibits DHT, it has a better chance of stopping hair loss than Rogaine that simply stimulates hair growth.

Of course, I recommend researching any hair loss medication and learn about the benefits, risks, and limitations before ordering it. I also recommend consulting with a medical doctor.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Is_Propecia_or_Rogaine_better

Any medicine which is developed for use in America has to go through laboratory tests and clinical trials; after which it has to be approved by the Food and Drug Association (FDA) before it can be available to the public.

In America, the FDA has approved only two drugs, namely finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil (Rogaine) for use in hair loss. Men can use both the drugs but women can only use Rogaine and not Propecia. If you are not American, you should find out under which brand name these drugs are available locally.

  • Propecia is available as a pill and has to be taken once a day with or without food. Propecia works by decreasing the enzyme activity that results in the formation of a chemical called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which is primarily responsible for male and female pattern baldness. By blocking the conversion of hormones into DHT it helps to maintain the existing hair as well as in assisting re-growth of thinning hair follicles. In male pattern baldness, during each cycle of hair growth, the hair becomes thinner and finer till it stops growing altogether. Propecia helps by making these thin strands thicker.

  • Rogaine is a solution of which ten drops need to be applied on the scalp twice a day. Although the exact action of Rogaine is unclear, researchers believe that it primarily prevents hair from thinning but in some patients can also increase the protein blocks which in turn make the hair follicles sprout new hair. When Rogaine is applied where there are hair follicles, it works as a hypertrichotic agent that can actually promote hair growth.

For either of these drugs to work they need to be taken for long periods. Propecia has to be taken for at least 6-8 months after which if you see any difference in hair loss, you will naturally want to continue it. Rogaine has to be taken indefinitely as we keep getting new hair follicles which need to continually be treated with the drug.

For women there is no question of which is better as Propecia is not approved for their use.

For men, studies and clinical trials seem to suggest that Propecia is a better alternative than Rogaine. Rogaine has proved to be more useful in holding on to existing hair whereas Propecia does help in also promoting new hair growth. Even though this may be the case, each medicine has its own benefits and you may benefit more from one than the other. So really it boils down to being a personal choice and what works best for you.

Alpecin- Caffeine Shampoo

I write this because one reader has post in my blog and ask regarding this shampoo call Alpecin-Caffeine Shampoo. According to the websites, this shampoo can actually increasing hair and ensuing baldness. How much you believe it?
Many products that said to be stop baldness actually didn't work out. Male pattern baldness is due to DHT , I can not see any topical treatment including minoxidial actually works.
Here are some details I get from Alpecin official website. Although it claims to have no sides effect like Propecia, but the effects is under doubt.

What to do against hair loss?

First of all: hereditary hair loss is a genetic predisposition, not a disease. As such, it cannot be permanently cured but must be continuously treated. This is where Alpecin has proved valuable. The caffeine contained in Alpecin prevents the hair roots from following their hereditary propensity for increased hair loss and ensuing baldness.

Alpecin prevents hair loss – without any undesirable side effects.

When applied, it causes a fresh tingling on the scalp, its active ingredients travel along the hair sheath and form a depot sufficient for up to 24 hours.

Every morning, it will take just a small effort to ensure that the caffeine-based ingredient combination protects you from hair loss.

“Hair loss treatment must be performed early, regularly and over a longer time period, if it is to be successful.“

Dr. A. Klenk
Head of Dr. Kurt Wolff-Research

Active ingredients

Alpecin with a highly effective caffeine complex

With its caffeine-based ingredient combination, Alpecin keeps the hair roots active and helps extend their growth phase longer than genetically predisposed:

  • Counteracts premature hair loss;
  • Increases hair root productivity;
  • Enhances the speed of hair growth.

The active ingredients are applied directly where they are needed. This way, Alpecin allows a high dosage without stressful impacts on the organism.

Alpecin is available at drugstores, pharmacies and hair salons.

However, please try to play their baldness calculator. It test how old you will be bald. Apparently, I will be bald at 38 according to the test.

Audace PH performance Shampoo review

I have the oily scalp problem quite a long time. I have dandruff as well. Anyway, to fight the dandruff, I have used Selsun Blue . Normally, I will use it once or twice a week. Excessive used may damage your hair or scalp.
In normal days, I used "Clear" for dandruff. However, my scalp has become very oily in the afternoon while I am in the office.
I have used Audace PH performance shampoo for over 10 days by now. There are 4 types of Audace PH performance shampoo but I choose the one for oily scalp (green color). For a bottle of 200ml is RM 14.40 (USD 4.40) at Watson pharmacy.
At the first 3 days, my hair and scalp still a bit oily although it is improving than before. My scalp is noticeable far more better condition after 5 days and above. Now the hair is less oily although it is still a bit oily in the late afternoon, but it is much improve.
I think for those who have oily scalp, audace PH shampoo may help. These series of shampoo may also help those with dry or sensitive scalp since they have other series as well.
I like this Germany product as it is quite gentle. For dandruff I will continue with Selsun Blue. I also continue my 0.5mg Propecia.
I think a bottle of 250ml Audace shampoo and can last over 2 months. There are other series of shampoo and tonic from Audace but I am not convincing. You can try it as it is not so expensive.
