Weekly summary - 104th week

Regarding the Minoxidil, I have recommended several links that you can buy in within Malaysia. Some of the sellers sell below RM 50 for a bottle of Kirkland minoxidil 5% locally. Thanks to a readers who told me that it is even cheaper if you buy form ebay oversea seller. Yes, it is just the half price what you can buy from local seller after inclusive of shipment cost. This is how those local seller earn. But one thing to bear in mind is local seller will bear the risk if shipment stuck at custom and they have to pay for import duties. Correct me if I am wrong.
I may order from oversea seller if there is import duties impose on the minoxidil shipped from US. I am lazy to go to customs to pay the import duties. I would rather paid higher price in this case. If there is no import duties impose, I think it worth a try for the readers. But one thing to bear in mind, oversea seller normally accept only PayPal which one thing that Malaysia really suck. PayPal is not widely use here as you can only put in money to your PayPal account but you can not withdraw it directly. You can withdraw through your Visa Credit card or debit card but with expensive charges.
Minoxidil is not so effective to retain the frontal hairline and so as to regrow the frontal. Propecia has the same problem as many in the hair loss help forum comment the same thing. I can said, frontal is the hardest part to regrow your hair.

Yo Jason, this is Jamie (dunno you still rmb or x, i started finasteride just 2 months b4 you, commented b4). I been following yours' blog since then.

Not much help with the frontal either, just some very tiny baby hair regrowth, overall it retain existing hairs.

Anyway, you gonna give minoxidil a shot?

Jamie.

Hair transplant (HT) is the only way to growth hair in frontal and temple area bald spot. Other efforts, just wasted your money time, and your body system too coz consumed propecia drug. Think seriuosly for HT option. Just go for definite solution rather than uncertain or risky option.

the guy abvoe speaks the truth in some way. But some people do actually see frontal growth with minx. and propecia together, give it some time and see, maybe 1 or 2 years. If it really doesn't grow out, find a very ethical and good HT doctor to do the HT and then take propecia to keep the crown hair.

Out of curiosity, how much is the cost to do HT in Malaysia? I mean everything, from consultancy to post-surgery.

Thanks for the photos.

By browsing through your photos, indeed the area for hair transplant is quite large. The estimated graft you would need is 3000grafts. Kindly see the attachment.

However, it would be more accurate if you could come over for a measurement in order to give you the exact no. of graft you need. For your information, usually the max no. of grafts to be transplant in one session is 2000-2500g, it may only able to restore 2/3 front, restore hairline, and the "M" shape. You may need another one session in future.

The estimated cost for :

1) Full hair transplant (2 sessions)- average RM35,700-RM41,800 each session (gap one year for second hair transplant)
2) Estimation Cost for anterior mid-scalp area (middle front of head) and temple.- RM 35,700-RM41,800 (based on 2000-2500g). 10% discount will be given during confirmation.

Thank you.

Oh, do you have before and after photos man?
And btw, that's a bit too cheap, for a full HT, for safety and a good/ethical doctor, it would around 25k US dollar, 25000*3.46 = 86.5k RM. But that's a hair system, which the doctor will continuly follow your case even after your HT.
If you just do a HT, it can a reasonable price mentioned above, but I doubt that's the only thing you need. You would need follow up, and possible seeing a doctor every now and then.

Good luck and do research about that any hospital that you're interested. We all know that we can't blindly believe what internet people tell us. Although the most expensive doctors might not be the best one, but it's gonna be safer. All I can say is research about the doctor and hospital.
