Weekly Summary - 45th week

This week is quite a normal week as my hair loss and libido has been normal.
Hair loss about 100 strands and the hair falls while combing and washing my hair seems OK compare with several months back.
However, I don't really feel I have regained my hair.
May be the hair grow is so slow until I can not really figure out my M shape frontal is actually improved.
There are quite some miniature hair grow in my frontal but will the hair grow stronger and falls only when it mature is another big question.
Till now, I average have about 5 strands of miniature hair falls before it actually mature. The figure may even higher as some is not noticeable.
But I still put hope of Propecia. If Propecia alone is not effective enough for hair regrowth, I may have to use Minoxidil along with Propecia.

Maybank Treats Fair and hair care centre

I received a letter from Maybank regarding TreatsFair at Mid Valley Exhibition centre on 31 July to 3 August.
Nothing special excepts ask you to spend more in this high inflation or some call it stagflation time.
You spend and get more treaspoints by using your Mastercard, Visa card or American Express during Treats fair.
But what catch my eyes is two of this promotion.
a) TrichoKare - 2 weeks hair care maintenance with 7000 treatspoints or RM 4500 treatspoints + RM 20
b) Beijing 101 Hair Crae Unique Hair experince wit 15000 treatspoints or 9500 Treatspoints + RM 40

As it seems really cheap, you may just waste your hard collected treatspoints in this trial haircare. Two weeks can do you what for your hair?
In two weeks time you can not see any improvement and thus, the so call "hair consultant"(bull shit) will ask you to subcribe a package. This package will cost you at least RM 3000 to RM 10000.
No kidding. For such a big amount of money and give you no guarantee of improvement your hair condition and plus they have no responsibility for your hair progress after you paid a big sum of treatment money.
What those consultant and hair care company like notorious Yun Nam Haircare, Svenson or Beijing 101 just concern of earning our money. Just money.
They will use all the effort to promote teh hair package, all kinds of way to frighten you about your hair loss, even you have full hair, they still said your scalp is dry or oily and you have serious dandruff that will cause hair loss one day.
Avoid this kind of haircare and avoid your hard earn money to go into such irresponsible haircare company.
For those who suffer teh male pattern hairloss, Propecia and minoxidil is still the only choice for treatment.

Why Rogaine or Minoxidil is so expensive in Malaysia?

I have no answer actually why it is so expensive in local pharmacy.
One month supply of Rogaine will cost RM 170++ to RM 190++ (USD 53 to 58) for one month supply.
For generic minoxidil, it cost RM 130 above (USD 40) for a one month supply.
Surprisingly. the price that you can get online is very much different.

First we compare two generic brand of minoxidil.

Follicare hair loss treatment minoxidil. It only cost you USD 19.50 for 2 months supply and 28.95 for 4 months supply.

Another brand of Minoxidil for men and women cost cost USD 6.99 if you purchase a 12 months supply. It is also 80% cheaper what you can get in malaysia pharmacy where generic minoxil also cost you Rm 130 a month.


Unfortunately Branded Rogiane that only supply in USA also cost a lot cheaper if you purchase online. 3 month supply Rogaine which is FDA approved to stop hair loss and regrow hair from OnlyHairLoss.com as low as USD 49.99 which is only one third of the price in Malaysia.

Even you include a shipment fee around USD 16, it is still a very good bargain.

Weekly Summary - 44th week

Just over 10 months in Propecia medication. OK. Well, just as recent weeks, hair falls has been consistent which mean about 100 strands per day. Nothing special. My sides effect seems gone away in recent weeks. Seems like a good sign as well. Libido is almost back to normal.
More and more readers have ask me to suggest any supplements to use.
First of all, I want to said, Propecia is the first thing you need to take. No choice even you afraid of the side effects. It is the only FDA approved medicine that inhibit DHT.
Second, you can used Rogaine or Minoxidil (2% or 5%) in addition to Propecia. Surprisingly, the price of Rogaine and Minoxidil which is a generic of Rogaine, is expensive in Malaysia. The one month supply can cost you near RM 180 for Rogaine. I never noticed the price is so big a gap compare purchasing online just like the banner in this blog above. I will write one regarding Rogaine or Minoxidil price in my next post.
Third, it is an optional to use Nizoral. This shampoo is highly recommend by some user but some claim their hair become so dry after using it. For me it is just another dandruff shampoo. I don't use it. I use Audace PH shampoo and Selsun Blue for dnadruff. This two shampoos are cheaper and I will recommend it if you have oily scalp and dandruff.

Is Caryn Hairpro, or Ginverea Grorich really works for hair loss?

There some readers are keen to know about some Tonic and Revitaliser or Shampoo that claimed to be effective of hair loss. I would not write a review as I do not use it. But I have made some research of some of it before I have cheated by Yun Nam Haircare. You can read about Yun Nam haircare by clicking Yun Nam in my blog’s label.

Several products that claimed they are effectively and work like magic to stop hair loss. Among them is Caryn Hairpro, Audace hair regrowth products and the latest is Ginvera Grorich Hair Follicles Revitalizer & Tonic Kit.

All these products are quite similar one each other.

Caryn Hairpro cost you RM 150++ above (correct me as I don’t update the latest price). The pack consist a shampoo, a revitaliser and a bottle of tonic that can last about 2 months. There are another pack that only have revitaliser and tonic. You can also buy each of the item separately. Last time they were advertised in TVcommercial aggressively but it actually in the market quite a long time. However, it doesn’t mean it is effective. I have a friend who using Hair pro for over 6 months and he claims his hair has never improve or what Caryn Hairpro said, hair regowth. He suffered male pattern baldness like me. So no point suing this type of natural tonic or revitaliser which you don’t even know what is the ingredients inside.

Audace product is from Germany. I am using their shampoo but it is for oily scalp and not for hair loss or their tonic. I am quite satisfied with the oily hair shampoo. But if you think Audace hair loss product is effective for MPB. I am not so convincing. However, their products are much morte economical. Normally is RM 30 or below RM 40.

Ginvera Grorich is now having promotion with RM 158 you can have a revilatiser (100ml) and a hair tonic (100 ml) plus a free green tea shampoo (400 ml). Since it is new, I don’t know its effectiveness. To be honest, I do not think it will be better than the two products above. I think all these products is just suitable as supplement after you take Propecia or finateride if you suffer MPB. These products in their best, can only improve the scalp of hair loss that due to dandruff, sensitive scalp or some minor scalp problem. These products are definitely not for MPB that cause by hormone.

The best combination until today to fight (no cure) male pattern baldness is perhaps Propecia or finateride + Rogaine or Minoxidil. If you gonna to choose one of them, choose Propecia as it is the medicine that inhibit DHt in your body. Rogaine and Minoxidil can help to grow more hair but with Rogaine alone will not work much. However, combination of both (assume) you are using branded original will cost you at least RM 300 (USD 100) per month. If you used Generic, combination of both will be around RM 140++ (or USD 45++).

The choice is yours, but I strongly against those product that seem like magic to turn a almost bald man to full of hair in one year or less. If a strand of hair can only grow 1 cm per month, that must be instant effect of these products. I only suggest to use these product like tonic or revitaliser if you have extra money to spend and please do not expect much result. You will be disappointed if you did so. If you have applied minoxidil, you are advised not to use any of the tonic by Hairpro, Ginvera Grorich or Audace.

Keep your valuable money and pick a cheap Shampoo that suitable to your scalp. Don’t be manipulated by the people who take advantage to bald man like us. They give us hope, then they spoil our hope. They just want earn our money and give us empty promise.

So beware. For bald man, we must united. That’s why this blog is call bald man united.

Weekly Summary - 43rd week

I am thinking have you guys feel the inflation that affect your daily life recently? Money become smaller for us not to include my readers from US. People in US have suffered from inflation, sub prime mortgage crisis and depreciation of dollar in one year.
Money is an issue more than previous for us. However, to take care of my hair, I have to spend RM 100 (USD 32) or so every month on Propecia. Those who use Propecia and Rogaine will have to spend near RM 300 a month.
In to 10th month on Propecia, my result is slowing down my hair loss. Hair regrowth can not judge by the miniature hair as these hair may not grow to the mature stage. The most important is my hair not thciker than before. At least I not notice it.
Libido is normal recently. May be my body has tolerate with Propecia.

Weekly Summary - 42nd week

Anyone of my loyal reader who actually has a positive result of saving his hairline either by Propecia or Rogaine?
I am actually quite tired as my hairline actually not improve. In fact, my frontal is thinning and my M shape is more obvious. There are quite some miniature hair or baby hair, but how much they will grow, I am not sure? How long this miniature grow until it is mature?
I will stay optimistic. This is what I can do now. Even the result and some sides effect, I am still putting hope at least protect the remaining hair that I got now.
Yupe, this week just as last week. No much improvement seen. May be it may not happen ever.
