Weekly summary - 226/227th week

If you going to give up between Propecia and Rogaine, which one is your choice?
Perhaps if you are my loyal readers many years back, you would said straight away - definitely Propecia.
But today and now, I have my doubt honestly. Rogaine has served me well enough to regain the growth of my hair. Propecia brought me side effects but you just do not know if Propecia has played a major part or just a cameo in my hair growth.
It is true that my hair growth seems like has been saturated since this few months. My hair seems like not never thicker although the bay hair were more than before at my frontal. The problem is those miniature hair just does not turn to the mature hair. I think if I am not so demanding, I may have accepted the current condition as the best condition and well it will only get worse but the better. We all should realize that the effects of both propecia and Rogaine will go downwards after a few years. I believe the few years in now.

Hi Jason,

After following your blog for 4 months, I decided to give minoxidil a try. I started Rogaine 2% more than 2 months ago, and while I do not take Propecia due to side effects as mentioned by you, I do take Ginkgo Biloba supplements and Saw Palmetto Pills (Proseren)and combination pills of Saw Palmetto, Pygeum and Pumpkin seed extracts (GNC brand).
After 2 months of Rogaine 2%, nothing happens on my crown but baby hair started growing on my head near the forehead and my beard started growing. Previously, I don't have facial hair but now I have to shave my face every morning. I am giving this a go for another 4 months before i decide to switch to Rogaine 5%. My question is, have you experienced facial hair growth? I don't recall ever reading about it on your blog. Last but not least, all the best to you and our fellow MPB warriors.

Heyh, Jason. Been following your blog for quite some time. I'm 19 years old, and have been having hair loss problem since after SPM. It happened so drastically that now, I think I've lost half of my orginal hair, which is so so depressing. Anyway, I'm quite interested to give a shot on Rogaine, 'coz it's only for external use. I don't dare to consume any pills, I'm afraid it might affect my health somehow. But, my problem now is I don't know where can I get Rogaine as I couldn't find it here in my place, Sabah. And I don't have all this paypal, mastercard, etc to purchase it online. So, I'm wondering if you could help to buy for me? I know this might sound a bit too much, but yeah, I don't have any other options thus seeking your help. Thanks.

helf,
Rogaine can get from your nearest pharmacy..just the price is more expensive.

Where can I get the cheaper ones? Coz I'm still a student, I don't think I can afford it if it costs me a lot.

Helf, this is my suggestion. if u have saving account, for example maybank, u can straight away apply for debit card at the bank. then follow simple steps of registration that will enable u to purchase stuff online or u can just ask the bank officer to help u register there & then. rogaine (regaine) when purchased in local pharmacy is expensive, almost rm200 for 60ml.
i normally do my purchase here: http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/3-MONTHS-KIRKLAND-MINOXIDIL-5-MENS-HAIR-LOSS-REGROWTH-/400184946469?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d2ce1af25
for the fraction of the cost & thats for 3 months supply!

but before deciding on DIY treatment, it is wise to go see a doctor about your hairloss condition. preferably a board certified dermatologist. i had abnormal hair fall towards the end of 2010. for someone like me who prefer having a full head of hair, the episode was devastating.
just answer honestly to all of the doctor's question. in my case, after testing for various conditions that might trigger hair loss: iron deficiency, thyroid, and MPB, etc.. result were negative.
my hair loss was sudden and diffuse. so the doc ruled out that i was experiencing tellogen effluvium. the good news is, the hair would grow back by 6months - 2years. it has already been slightly more than a year now and my hair is already back to its normal condition, i was just using minoxidil to speed up the hair recovery process.
there is so many types & factors of hair loss, u have to do ur own research to understand it better.
